The logbook for indoor bouldering

Your gym is the map.

Start a session at your gym, tap the boulder in front of you, and press + every time you get on it. Cruxd counts the burns, knows a flash from a send, and your friends see the session on your gym's map.

Free on iPhone, opening gym by gym.

Cruxd's Log tab during a session: a gym's floor plan with its walls drawn where they stand, each one named, and a bar at the bottom reading 3 climbs, 1 sent.

Why Cruxd

A session is a hundred small goes on a wall that changes every few weeks. Cruxd keeps each one where it happened, so next time you know what you've sent and what's still a project.

How it works

The climb card for boulder W1, a yellow 6A set by Mira: a burn counter at 0 between a minus and a plus button, with Sent and Project underneath.

Climb card

One burn, one tap.

Press + for every burn. Marking it sent never adds one, and a send on your first burn is a flash.

This session's list over the gym map: W1, a 6A, flashed; W2, a 6B, a project after 2 burns; W3, a 6C, tried once.

This session

The wall remembers you.

Every boulder you got on is in the session: flashed, sent, still a project, or just tried. Next time they're still marked on the map, and a project keeps its count from last time.

A post in the feed: a friend's session, naming who she climbed with and the song she had on, drawn on a gym's map with each boulder ringed where it stands; a strip reading 7 climbs, 7B hardest, 1 flash, 125 minutes; and two badges, First to send C2 and Finished The Cave.

Feed

Your session, on the map.

The boulders you climbed light up where they are. Friends give kudos and comment.

The You tab: You climb 7A, pushing 7A+, flash grade 6C, a grade line stepping up from 6A to 7A over three months, milestones such as Hardest send yet and First to send, and a list of projects with their burns.

You

Know your grade.

“You climb 7A” comes from what you've actually sent. Next to it: the grade you're pushing, your flash grade, the milestones you've hit and the projects still open.

With friends

Climb with your people.

Follow your friends and the gyms you climb at. Their sessions and their news come to you.

  • Follow friends.

Their sessions land in your feed, drawn on the gym's map. Give kudos, leave a comment, and tag who you climbed with.

  • Follow your gyms.

New sets, events and news from every gym you follow, in one place. When a wall is reset, it's in your bell.

  • Pick your home gyms.

Mark the gyms you actually climb at. They're ready on the Log tab before your first session, and the Gyms tab can show just their posts.

For gyms

Run a gym? It's your wall.

The gym side lives in the same app, behind the same login. Your setters keep the map true from the wall, and your climbers log on what's actually up.

Gym mode's New boulder sheet: tape BL6, the setter Nora Lindqvist, ten tape colours and a custom one to choose from, and a grade of 6B.

Set from the wall.

Place a boulder on your floor plan where it's set, with its tape, grade and setter. Strip it when it comes down.

Gym mode's Sets screen: 75 boulders up, which wall has stood longest, a Plan a reset button, and past resets, newest first.

Tell your climbers.

Reset a wall in one go and the post about the new set goes out with it. Add news with photos or clips, pinned or scheduled, straight to your followers' bell.

Gym mode's Insights: a note that these numbers are Cruxd users, not the whole gym, with 5 climbers logging 50 sessions in the last 90 days, and a bar chart of the most-climbed walls.

See what gets climbed.

Which walls get the most goes, when people come, and which boulders climbers feel are a grade off. Counted from Cruxd climbers only.
